One potato, two potatoes, three potatoes four. I grew blue potatoes and now I will grow more. I seem to have missed some blue potatoes and now I have four plants growing from whatever I did not get dug up. I will leave them until the frost kills the top of the plant.

Neat that you used to grow them. These four plants have come back. I will probably order some seed potatoes from a catalog this year. The few I got are relatively pricey at Wal Mart.

Yukon Golds are great. I understand that they are supposed to need less butter. Potatoes can be an amazing food.

I will have to check out that clip after work. There is not a big difference in taste, although I believe they are less starchy.

@marlina yes, it does, in a way. I have heard that there are purple and yellow carrots. i know that there is blue corn and they make blue corn chips.

I like blue potatoes but they are hard to find. We really shouldn't grow potatoes in our small garden - they take up too much space, did one sweet potato this year and got tons of vines and only one potato - but it was the size of a footbal LOL

I am going to put up a post about the sweet potato I am sprouting in a vase. It was an organic white sweet potato from the grocers and I could not resist starting plants.

I've only seen blue potatoes on cooking shows. Do they taste like regular white potatoes?

To me they do. They are the same texture as the red ones we grow.

I haven't heard about the blue potatoes before. Are they really blue? That's quite interesting.

I added some pictures to this post of the ones I harvested before. They look purple more than blue to me.

I do not think it is new. It is native to South America, and may be one of the older types. It is new to the US.

I am not sure. I usually plant potatoes in March and dig them in June. These have been there since June or July, so they should be ready before Thanksgiving. Potatoes prefer cool weather. I think I need to water them some more.

Haha. No I think they originated in South America. I just did not dig well enough to find them all last June or July.
