What are your feelings about hunting?

I don't personally do it, but I feel it is necessary to keep the deer population down. They may die of starvation if people could not hunt. I don't like killing anything though. For some it is a way of life.

Hunting maybe has a different meaning in the US than it does here. Over here the word hunting, to many, will immediately make them think of fox hunting which is a blood sport in my opinion and I absolutely hate it. Hunting in US terms may include deer and such where the deer killed is used for food...I've no problem whatsoever with that and actually admire those who kill for food rather than buy from a supermarket.

yes, deer hunting is quite common here, but mostly with the slightly older set. There are not too many young people who do it, but for some it is a family tradition.

@snowy22315 personally the reason I agree with hunting for food is that it it cuts out the supermarkets. A person that kills a deer and eats it knows exactly where it comes from and how it has lived. For people like me I get my meat in nice packages at a supermarket...if I was anti hunting I'd be an utter hypocrite.

Many of my neighbors are avid hunters but I've never had any interest in it.

The only person in my family that kind of likes hunting is my brotherinlaw. He hunts every so often. My roommate used to hunt when he was physically able to. I have a cousin who loves hunting. He posted a pic of himself with his crossbow.

Well most people do use the meat from the animal they have killed. I personally think it would make me barf..to see an animal I had killed. However, I do understand the need to do it.

My husband and grandsons like to hunt. We live in the country and we'd be completely over-run with deer if they didn't hunt them. They never kill an animal just for the antlers, only if they know someone who can use the meat. We ground it up and use it in place of hamburger (it's really better than hamburger, we think!) and our kids cook with it also. I don't like to see animals killed just for sport. I think God intended for animals to be a food source for humans. We have a lot of black bears in the woods behind our property. They can't be killed except during bear season, but it makes me nervous to be back there near dark.

Yes, unless the deer population can be properly controlled with birth control, I think hunting is a necessary evil. Also, some people think of it as a way of life..so it will probably continue..no matter what.
