The boxes for Operation Christmas have been out for a few weeks now at my college. I was meaning to bring back some things from home that my parents just bought for my nieces and nephews to play with when they visit, since my parents bought too much like always. Of course being the forgetful person I am I didn't think about it again.
I found out Monday that my friend, Chelsey, is the one running the Operation Christmas this year and she told us that only one person has donated so far, but they can only use one thing that the person donated. This got me really down so today Morgan & I went to Dollar General & bought a few things to donate.
I bought, toothpaste, three stuff animals, two of the five pack Extra gum, a ten pack of the Minees cookies, a pack of notebook paper, a notebook, sticky notes, and the alumni house gave me some bracelets with the colleges name on them that I could add to the bag. I plan on using the rest of my money on my student ID to buy candy that is with in their expiration dates requirements from the P.O.D. in the library.
Morgan bought 3 of the Christmas candy canes that had sweet tarts, sprees, and mike & ikes, toothbrushes, gloves, deodorants, toothpaste, hats, and some other things that I don't remember.
I am considering going back to dollar tree next Friday after I get paid again to grab some more things like more things like soap, first aid stuff, cough drops, more snack foods, school stuff, books, etc.. After they pick up the boxes Morgan & I plan on going to help stuff the shoe boxes with the items as well.

We always fill up two shoe boxes every year. WEnjoy started doing great it when the kids were in school and just continued the tradition. We have never gotten a letter back but I know people who have which was really sweet.

How sad that they was only able to us 1 item that was donated. That was nice of you to go out and get more things for the boxes. And I am sure your Son or daughter had fun purchasing the items they got as well. My old church does this and I would let my kids do a box each year.

I think Samaritan's Purse is one of the best charities world-wide. So many children are blessed at Christmas with the shoe boxes you're filling and many are helped around the world in the midst of tragedies.
