I love watching a local TV show , Salamat Dok (Thank You Doc ) on Saturday and Sunday mornings while I exercise .
It has one portion wherein volunteer doctors and health workers give free medical mission to people who likes to avail of free ultrasound for pregnant women and some other services . Some doctors will also be shown going to the houses of very poor people who can’t afford consultation and medication .
It always would bring tears to my eyes specially those visited bed ridden old people who have no money to consult a doctor . I always would wish that I can also in one way of another extend help like that .
Now that wish is little by little, realized . My daughter, now a doctor , is already going with other doctors and medical practitioners to far flung areas for medical mission .
I am so thankful to God for that .
I know , most of you have already realized your wishes too .

That's very kind of your daughter. Today going to see a doctor and the medical charges can be crazy expensive. I don't understand why or where our money goes. Government shall do better in this aspect. Here it is the same. Some people are just too poor to go to see a doctor and they are suffering. Some ask for help from TV and people donate money. But this is not the solution. The government shall use our tax to take care of these people.

They have been to Nueva Ecija recently . I forgot to ask about the other medical missions they did as to where it was .
St Luke's shoulders the expenses and through the help of sponsors , those pharmaceutical companies , asking for the doctors to prescribe their medicines .

Thank you . She's now on pre-residency . Hopefully she can be chosen as one of the 4 amongst the 15th who applied for pre-residency . Once a resident doctor already she will also begin specializing in General surgery - Oncology as specialization .

I'm happy doctors are gradually going back to their medical oath of helping those in need and not just making the medical profession a means of livelihood and to buy the latest model of cars. Sorry for that but that's how many see some doctors nowadays.

Yes, i feel proud that they are part of the medical profession giving medical attention to the poor people and those that were affected by calamities .
I must say what you said about some doctors is true.
Some would even go abroad just to earn more than what they can earn here .
I am happy that my daughter refuted me when i said she go abroad to work . She said she became a doctor for her countrymen not for foreigners . I was speechless when she told me that . I think , having been schooled in UP Manila , she took the advocacy of most of those in UP - to serve their countrymen .
During the speech of the head in UP Manila , he really stressed that they should serve their countrymen not go abroad to serve foreigners .

@sunrisefan Thank you .
But you know , last night , our daughter said she cried a lot because her boyfriend didn't pass the pre-residency at ST . Luke's . And she said she will talk about it when she's already okay . She even posted last night "Tonight , i can write the saddest lines " . I am so sad for her boyfriend too .
He has to apply to other hospitals for pre-residency . I know he can do it with other hospitals .

Thank you . At least it's my daughter fulfilling my wish and i know it is her wish also to help poor people . On the first place , when i asked her if she would like to work abroad as a doctor , she said she doesn't like . She wants to serve the Filipino people . Wow ! I was speechless when she told me that .

Actually , I just realized i could also help those poor sickly persons through my daughter , when she was already nearing her last year of her studies .
I am so happy that she said she won't go abroad , but just here so he can serve his countrymen .
