Time Does Not Exist

Why is it that the brain gets stuck and seems to stop, but time keeps on going? It’s like we are in a constant moment while time decides that it will not wait for us to catch up to it. It is a sad joke, or maybe a cruel joke. Or better yet, life laughing in our face. We know and are aware that each day is different. But why does it seem that sometimes it is all the same? Why do we feel like it is just a continuation of that same moment from the day before? But yet we are aging. And obviously we do not recognize it. We do not see it until it is too late. It’s times cruel joke. Time lives on forever while it consumes us along the way. Pretty screwed up when you think about it that way. Seems somewhat evil to me.
The ultimate truth is that time is actually an illusion. Time does not really exist. Time is something man created. It was created to show man that there are different days of a week, that we age, we get older. And we put number to time. Time was created by the stars, how daytime turns into nighttime. But time does not truly exist at all. Scientists consider space space-time. Time might be somewhat real in the cosmic sense, but it started being measured by man. And time, if were real, is different on different planets. Where we have a so called 24 hour day, some other planet might have a 36 hour day. Basically using the calculations we use to show time here on earth.
We all say that time goes faster as we age. That is just not true. Time as it was made is the same speed no matter what day of the week it is. It is all perception. The caveman did not have clocks or calendars. They just existed, lived and survived. Yes there was days and nights, but it didn’t mean anything to them. Talking about days and nights, that brings up yet something else that seems somewhat odd to me. Why does the human animal need to sleep? If we calculate time to show we are only on this planet for a short time, then why do we sleep? Wouldn’t we do more without sleep, wouldn’t we be more productive and have more enjoyment and yes, more time? It seems to make sense to me. But the human animal, along with many on this planet need downtime. Sleep. It just seems such a waste of time.
Or are we really wasting time. I mean if time does not actually exist then how could one waste time. I guess we actually don’t. Our sleep I guess would then be considered lost space. Maybe lost life. Or wasted space or wasted life. Time, being fake, was created like societies. Like rules and laws. They don’t truly exist either. They are also man made. Underneath all the creation on this planet, the buildings, the knowledge, the technology, is only the human being. That living tissue that is just existing in space somewhere. And if it is true that we are and were always part of the universe, then we are all connected somehow to space and the energy of space. We are just molecules and cells that form the image of what we are. And it is also believed by some that when we die we go back into becoming the energy that is already around us every single day.

time is just a unit of measurement between events

@arthurchappell Maybe. I am assuming you mean everything would be at once. We would continue on as we have. Just no keeping track of it.

To me, it always seems like time goes by faster the older I get. I wonder why that is? Before I reached 18 years old, it seemed like time just stood still because I couldn't wait to be an adult. Since age 18, time just flashes by way too fast.

I know what you mean. It does feel like that. But the reality is it does not go faster. I think when we're young we strive for many things. And to us at those ages it seems like ages to get to where we want to be. But when we're older, more settled, there is nothing more we want. I have no idea. But time does go by fast. In all reality. I can still remember being 18.

@inertia4 You are right, time doesn't really go any faster...it just seems that way. I wish I knew why because I would definitely try and slow it down...lol. I also remember being 18. When I turned 18, the legal drinking age was 18, not 21 like it is now. I have never been much of a drinker but I do remember celebrating.

Maybe it is deep. I never thought about it really. We do need to be able to allocate time for everything we do. But we cannot lose sight of the fact that we are human and we were not meant to live on time constraints. We are supposed to be free.

Wow. This is a lot to take in! I agree with you that each planet has a different day cycle. But I guess since I live here, I can only really deal with what I have. lol Maybe our lives would be better off if we didn't think in terms of time, and just lived from sunrise to sunset. I don't know.

It seems that way but we all know that is not true. Time is time. Or whatever it really is. The movement forward I would say. Although I do believe we can tap into the energy to be able to manipulate what we know as time. Bend it, meaning bending space-time.

An interesting post and you have given much thought to the subject! You obviously have a curious mind.

@inertia4 Humans measure time to give us an idea how long it is from one event to another or one point to another and only because certain objects move with a precice measurement such as a light year.

@1hopefulman That I know. And it makes sense. We do need a gauge to calculate events like days and weeks and so on.

Time would exist wiether man put a name to it or not. The world would not stop spinning from ignorance.

Well put, that is what I always believed. To bad much of society cannot grasp that and would rather be at war with each other.

the fact that our perception of time can vary so much has always made me wonder if what we have is what we perceive only, not remotely what it really is

Sleep is definitely not a waste of time! It's the perfect way to spend time! Time is simply a name given to the changing shadows and seasons. But, I do think that it travels at different speeds {on different occasions and for different people} and that it isn't necessarily down to our perception. It's just the quirky way that Time insists on working.

I think that's why the scientists call it space-time. That makes more sense to me. I agree that it might be different on different planes. Like for instance, in space in certain areas it might be quicker or slower. The measurement of time we have is good for our planet.

Time does not exist. The feeling of time going faster: For me, it seems there is almost an end to the journey in view. Must less is ahead, so it seems things move faster, although I realize it is not so.

Yes, even Einstein said that time is relative.

@DeborahDiane That is so very true. Our problems here on this planet are not as bad as we think they are.

@inertia4 - Yes, when we look at it that way, our world's problems seem pretty petty.
