Favorite "Lie" Songs #1 - "Lies"

Finally, you might be saying. Another series comes to an end. #1 in my Favorite "Lie" Songs series belongs to British synth-pop trio Thompson Twins and their hit "Lies."
Thompson Twins formed in Sheffield, England, in 1977. Comprised of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Tom Bailey, vocalist/percussionist Alannah Currie, and percussionist Joe Leeway, the band scored numerous international hits in the 1980's, including the popular ballad "Hold Me Now," and the highly danceable "Love on Your Side."
"Lies," however, from the 1982 album Side Kicks (in the United States, Quick Step and Side Kicks elsewhere,) was the band's first hit, albeit minor, reaching #67 in England and #30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, largely due to airplay on both alternative radio and MTV. It was, though, a #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart in 1983, where, after two weeks in that spot, was knocked off by Michael Jackson's "Thriller." "Lies" was used in an episode of Cartoon Network's The Regular Show.
Not only did I own Side Kicks, which put "Lies" into my own personal regular rotation, but the song received positive response on a weekly basis when I DJ'd a weekly Teen Night at a pizza place I worked at in the early 80's.
Enjoy!

I read on Wikipedia that they call themselves Babble now, and are an electronic chill out group. I'll have to give them a listen, as I love chill out.

It was their first hit. Not as big as some of the others.
