I was just laying here thanking Jesus for the oxygen I breathe, warm clothes, and plenty of good food, when it came to mind something that happened 45 yrs. ago. We, 4 kids, myself and 2nd husband lived in a townhouse type apartments joining other apartments in a row. In a poor part of town. Mostly we were happy but had very little. went to food banks and churches for extra food and clothes, etc. the women would sit on each others front steps and visit in summer while watching the kids play on the sidewalk. One such day, a big limo pulled up and parked in front of our building and a high fashion pretty lady walked out and approached us. jewels all over her and sat on my stoop next to me. Everyone gathered to see who it was but I did not know her either. She said, "I used to live here and I promised myself, when I got money I would come back and visit where I came from. Just to remind myself." She started pulling out 5 dollar bills from her purse and gave each kid, then 20's for adults. and before she walked back to the limo she pulled out a 100 bill and gave me and thanked me for sitting there talking with her on the step. That was just so weird and we never found out who she was and I often wondered how she was after that. I always thought how fun it would be if I was ever rich, just to do such a thing. Ever have anything like that happen to you? btw, I was thinking all this because last night the electric was off for 4 hours cause someone hit a pole and I just prayed for it. 5 minutes before my friend Linda called and I asked her to pray and voila !! back on. lol

That was wonderful of that lady. I haven't had that exact thing happen, but I've found money in clothes I bought from thrift stores and felt truly blessed.

God is so good. I know thanking Him for everything good or bad is always the right thing to do. You are doing that and all is well. It is wonderful to hear how this lady remembered her origins as she prospered and what it was like to be poor.

@bunnybon7 It can be quite a blessing to think back on something amazing like this. At the time perhaps we did not appreciate it but years later we realize that it was something of a miracle. We take the Lord for granted often and it is nice to recall those special memories and be thankful.

@41CombedaleRoad back then it was thought of as a miracle and blessing because I think it was near the end of the month and many of us was on government assistance and food stamps.

yes that's the thing. she never revealed who she was. it was a very poor neighborhood and we did talk of it for weeks. I would too if I was to get rich and be able to travel back to where I was very poor. know how it feels.

That's such a cool story. I would do the same if I ever get that ship to come in. One year some years ago one of my longtime online friends sent me $100. She said she didn't worship anywhere but still tithed and she had earned $1000 on stocks. She wanted to tithe it to me since she knew I was struggling to pay the rent.

That women never forgot where she came from and the friends she had while she was there. You were nice to her and she was grateful. If I ever won money I would help my friends that needed help.
