The Nuptials

I have never had a wedding. I have had nuptials given by a judge and by a preacher. I often wonder how my wedding would have gone had I had one. I would love to have had one of those old fashioned off white dresses lacy and flowing to the floor. With a train behind. Don't see those anymore I don't think. There would be a lot of roses. Red ones, yellow ones, pink and white. Pink and white miniature ones in my bouquet. Oh, and the maid of honor would be wearing a silk pink frock. The groom is an illusion. Sort of a mixture between Cary Grant and Gary Cooper. Yes, that would be nice. Smiling their alluring smiles at me. Oh my and then I wake up from my dream. A wedding that never was. What was your wedding like? Or did you have one?

I have had 3 too many. Wish I could forget the 2nd. The first was a church wedding. The third was outdoors and was lovely. I would do that one all over again....minus the 90 degree temperature and the high humidity!

Sounds nice. I had four. THe last being a living arrangement. I wish I had been able to marry my souldmate instead of the dips I was dealt. A friend had a wedding at this small little white church over by the college. So romantic.

@celticeagle My first was in a church. It snowed heavily the night before. What a nightmare.

had one, churchy, was ok, turns out, boring really. second one was a jp and no one there. next time, if and when that occurs, it will be with a group of friends and loved one, short ceremony more with vows than anything else, then a potluck and cake. flowers? maybe a few, but not carried, or not more than a small slip carried. the only thing I'd want to do is get disposable camera's into everyone's hands

Simplicity is often nicer than all the hub bub of a big fancy one. I hope you have that one day.

@Jessicalynnt ......Glad to hear it. In the winter months when I feel down the most I feel weakened and things get to me easier.

My husband and I have been married nearly 29 years and when we married, we eloped. So, no, we didn't have a wedding ceremony with the white dress etc. I do sometimes wish we had been able to have a bigger and fancy wedding, but due to difficulties with family at the time, it was best for us to elope.

Perhaps on your 39th wedding anniversary you can redo your vows and at least have a ceremony with many flowers and a reception @LeaPea2417

Elopement is so romantic though. If the Walton's can do it why not? That many years of marriage is great.

I had a big fancy wedding, although we wanted a smaller more intimate affair. There were about 234-238 guests. My gown was big, with a long train that I had a wrist holder for our first dance and then after that I had someone do up the bustle-oh yes, it was THAT big that it had a bustle. My girls wore royal purple-my favorite colour, they wore southern belle style and even carried parasols with fancy (at the time they were) silk flowers on them. My husband wore black and the groomsmen, all 5 of them, also wore black. We even had a little flower girl and ring bearer. It was a huge affair, almost overwhelming because there were guests that came along in the reception line and my husband would nudge me and ask me who they were and I would be thinking the very same thing! And the next day it continued........we went to my parents' house to open gifts and 8 of their closest couples of friends were there.....they spent the night partying away with my parents. And they took video while we did our gifts and the envelopes. memories......

I'll be having one soon . I'd like to wear a lacy mermaid style gown since that is what my better half want to see. We want to make the wedding simple so that we'll have enough money to spend for the honey moon (a vacation somewhere) haha

Church wedding, white dress, blue trim... My cousin's daughter had a Celtic wedding yesterday. Looked kind of like a Renaissance Faire...

My first marriage was a total disaster from start to finish. I too dreamt of white wedding dresses and flowers. I got a pastor's chambers and a red, wool costume kid you not. Something I don't like to remember much. Now I have my soul mate but the marrying part nothing to write home about. Here is a wedding song I would have loved. You can listen and continue to dream.
One of the most beautiful songs that Petula has recorded. There certainly is love.!!
