Yesterday's Happenings

As some of you know, I had a lot going on yesterday, dental appointment in Milwaukee, two hours from home and Writer's Guild.
The dentist is happy, I'm happy, and the appointment took all of five minutes. My next follow-up is in six months.
On the way home there was a bit of excitement on Highway 41 South. As we were going north and just getting past Oshkosh, all of a sudden all you could see is an almost clear road coming south with it must have been a dozen police cars around a Lamers bus. So what was the big deal? We had just passed the prison, so my thoughts went in that direction, but it wasn't a high speed chase. No. It was a police escort. It seems the VP candidate for Hilary Clinton was in Wisconsin and we just happened to pass their escort as they headed where they were headed.
I was home for all of half an hour before I was sprinting out the door once more for Writer's Guild, and wouldn't you know it, they gave us the smaller room. The first time we had that room when we began going to the library, we were overbooked in that room - more people than chairs and had to borrow some from the floor and squeeze in around the table. Well we did again last night as well. It was a tight crowd but a good one.
The meeting went well. I read more of the story I read last month, and everyone was enthused by it. It made me feel good. I asked three times if they wanted me to keep reading. They said yes each time.
Then the library was also holding a book sale in the basement. It looked like they had as many books downstairs as they did upstairs. I didn't buy any, but I thought about it. However, in the back of my mind was the fact I had just taken three boxes of books to the thrift store. I really didn't need any more.
So that was my day yesterday. I didn't get back here as I was exhausted by the time I got home and just relaxed before going to bed.
The weather was also great yesterday, breaking records for 71F. It was the warmest day for November ever and very pleasant. Today is another nice day, not as warm, only supposed to get to 58. We have sun and high clouds as I look out my window.
So that was my day yesterday and I hope you all had a good day as well. Thanks for reading.
Enjoy the peaceful picture from my recent trip to Washington Island.

Writer's Guild is where writers and authors get together and discuss the publishing world, what they've written, and any news of interest to writers. For instance, there is a Writer's and Author's Fair coming up November 12. I'll be there for it and hope to sell some of my books. There will also be speakers.

There wasn't, but I found out Tuesday that a Medicaid dental clinic just opened in Green Bay. Most likely the only one in the county. So when I needed to get my dentures I needed to go to Milwaukee for it. Now since that is my denture dentist, that is where I'll be going.

@celticeagle It's an island at the top of the thumb of Wisconsin. I found a map that shows it pretty good. It's a map that has all the counties on it. At the top of the thumb you see Door County then an island above the thumb. That's Washington Island, only accessible by ferry.

Oh wow! I think Trump was in my neck of the woods two months ago, I'm not sure about Hilary. I knew about Trump because friends told me; we were all downtown for the wrestling that day, but we left later so I don't think traffic was anything out of the ordinary.
I'm really glad your dentist appointment and meeting went well! It sounds like you had a good day. :)

@crazyhorseladycx You find interesting things to giggle over. We'll be back in the bigger room next month so it won't be as crowded. It's the boardroom.

The forecast for yesterday promised temps of that but we only had into the mid-sixties or so. Even then it was quite nice. It did rain off and on a little bit, but we kept working. Or, I should say my employees kept working as I sat in the car while they worked to give myself a bit of a break before heading to work as a cashier. Today was the mid-fifties, although my thermometer looks like it says 59, but I thought that this morning and found out it was much lower than that. We've had rain most of the day off and on. Enough to where we couldn't work outside.
Tomorrow, I might be exhausted because we'll be working half an hour away and when that job is done we'll be doing a job outside my area just a bit and then if there's time one or two littler ones in town. All the extra driving usually tires me out more than normal. We'll see how it goes.
Nice image. I don't remember where you went on your trip, and I don't know where Washington Island is.
Cool that your listeners wanted to hear more of your story.

@just4him Okay, I see it in relationship to Michigan and Wisconsin. I didn't realize there were other areas that referred to sections as the 'thumb'.

@MarshaMusselman It's either referred to as the thumb or Door County.

I hope you needed all that rain. Washington Island is at the top of the thumb. If you take a look at the map you'll see a couple islands. Washington Island is the larger one. The only way to get there is by ferry, which is where we were when I took that picture. The picture is of Plum Island. I don't think that one is inhabited though.

More people get eBooks than paperbacks, but they do still sell well. I prefer them, but I don't have an eReader.

It was and wasn't, when you consider that four hours of it was sitting in the van to and from Milwaukee.

I'm glad for the slower days, like today when I have nothing to do except interact here and get more of my book worked on. I'll be doing that soon.
