Are you sure you're comfortable?

@Ronrybs commented on my last photo of a kangaroo saying he looked like all he needed was a beer and he'd be set to watch TV. So I told him I'd post about a really laid-back 'roo. This was one of five or six in a large pen at a caravan park in Erldunda which is almost the exact centre of Australia. The main species in this region is the 'red kangaroo'. As the name suggests, the fur is reddish in colour. They have a Roman nose and I don't think they are as pretty as our western grey local roos. The red kangaroo is the largest living marsupial and can stand six feet tall when erect and a couple of feet more if they get up on their toes. I had to take the photo through the mesh fence. Obviously this one's mother never mentioned the word 'modest' to him.

well if they were getting as hot as we have been lately - a good lie back is all one can do.

Our weather has warmed up considerably too. So nice not to need a jumper/cardigan/what do you call it?

They are very interesting creatures. I love the color of this ones fur but gray are very pretty as well. My children got to hold one at a petting zoo a few years ago.

@rebelann I can sometimes be quite embarrassed by the way animals act but of course they have no false modesty at all.

I think this roo has had most of his 'junk' removed. They often sterilise tame males as they can get very aggressive to the point of being dangerous.

Certainly a rough night could account for such a position. I'm sure there are roos in come zoos in Canada. They seem to have them in a lot of foreign zoos.

Are Kangaroos aggressive when handled? I have never been close to this animal. Your pic is nice, and the Kangaroo gave you a pose of a lifetime.

Some of the big males can get aggressive. This one was behind a fence. Mostly they are quite gentle unless teased or mistreated.
