For how long should you know a guitar before you sleep with it?

I recently went ahead and bought a new guitar. It's a Modern Martin D-18, an updated version of one of their standard dreadnoughts. When my day is done, I often grab either my mandolin or one of my guitars and kick back on my bed, playing away. Three times now I've fallen asleep with my Martin in my arms. I've only had it a month. Am I being promiscuous?

Well, you should try to be more discrete. Do the mandolin and your other guitars know? Be careful.

He is like a child, he spills the beans before beans are ready to be spilled...SMH. If Angelina Jolie had married him, she would have no problem in seeking divorce ... ill treating children indeed..of all the silly reasons after so many adoptions and natural children ..and so many years together...hmm..I bet marriage was to get some of Brad Pitt's wealth...in relationship she would not have got it, right?

@vandana7 I do not believe that Angelina married Brad Pitt to "steal" some of his money. Looking at the characteristics of this woman, I think she had something against Jennifer Aniston. It was not enough to steal her husband, she had to show that she was able to marry him.

@LadyDuck .. Weird, right? I mean ..she wastes her entire life for that silly stubbornness? Goes to an extent of adopting so many kids and has a couple of her own...what is wrong with her...making another woman unhappy ...to that extent...can she make her children happy ..it is she from whom those kids need protection. I don't believe he hurt the kids...if he was hurting kids, he would have done it much before...before their marriage...there must have been something that the kid did too...why is it that we have to decide based on one side of the story...smh..whatever..I was trying to pull Pony's legs. lol

Are you promiscuous or is your Martin easy? That should be the question.

Well, the "action" is "high" (slightly), but (paradoxically?) the Martin is a bit harder to "play" than the Collings.

@TheHorse I know on Damian's double bass a new bridge always had to be filed this way and that to adjust the positioning of the strings. And he was always getting out of the washing up because it would soften his callouses. :)

@JudyEv How do you mean "getting out of the washing up"? Oh, you mean he played when he lived at home and would use his callouses as an excuse not to wash his hands before dinner? I haven't played bass in a week or two. My right hand callouses are disappearing. My left hand ones are fine.

Far too promiscuous. It is way too soon to be sleeping with Martin. You two need to get to know each before you spend that kind of time together.

But I've been "dating" her at the store for months! I even used outings with my kid clients as an excuse to "court" her.

@TheHorse Still, her mother saw your posts, and she is not happy! My brother traveled the country with his band and he was lead guitarist. His wife, who was lead singer, said he took his guitar into the bathroom with him and instead of reading a magazine like normal people, he played the guitar. I think that grossed her out.

We're still getting to know each other, as her neck is a bit wider than that of my Collings, but we're pretty good together.

Absolutely!!! You love the curves and smoothness, gentle whispers and tang..now I know why you go missing when I need you around...to lose to another woman is somewhat normal, to lose you to a guitar, that too with a name like Martin..and not Martina - @DaddyEvil...please come and console me..

Vanny, you needn't worry. If I'm a certified trollop, then I have plenty of love to share. Dealing with the other instruments in my house is pretty rough, though.

Well, some people get bad GAS, which is short for Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. I haven't reached that stage. I try to have three good guitars around, each with a specific purpose in mind.

If your time with Martin doesn't get in the way of any other relationships, then you should be okay, I'd think. You just may not want to share this situation with your teacher friends, they may think you're a bit weird or something. I hope you don't accidentally break Martin's neck because you didn't make him rest in the chair instead.

I am very delicate with my Martin! The only neck that might be broken belongs to someone who tries to play this thing without my permission.

I can understand wanting just the right tune and did laugh over the sleeping title. Never had a guitar, but use to play the Banjo. Miss playing in a band, but all of us moved on with life getting married and children. College was a fun time and I remember the cool music like it was yesterday.
