I really love reality crime dramas..in fact fictional ones are ok too. My friend used to call it "crime porn" because it can be addicting after awhile, and it isn't very wholesome..but I guess being aware of things that could happen, is maybe better than having your head in the sand..Do you watch these shows?

I don't but my mother is "addicted" to Investigation Discovery Channel and shows like Forensics Files.

@snowy22315 They tried keeping the show alive when it moved from Fox to Lifetime but I guess after 25 years it's time is over.

I'm a fan of crime shows especially Blue Bloods & Law & Order SVU. I also love reading a good crime/mystery book

I used to watch The First 48 all the time. Have you seen it? I started to get depressed so I don't currently watch it. My late mother was just like you though. She loved that stuff! She'd watch The First 48, Cold Cases, Forensic Files, Dr. G: Medical Examiner, True Detectives (which inspired the fictional CSI), and anything on the Investigation ID channel.

I do love those kind of shows. I love forensic files as well. My favorites are Criminal minds, Law & Order SVU, and Blue Bloods.

Bluebloods is good...but Donny Walberg has more things happen to him, than would happen to someone real in 10 lifetmes.

I try very hard not to watch too many of these -- I can get nightmares if I watch too many of them.

I don't get nightmares from them...the one time I got a nightmare was from watching something related to Scream on Netflix...right before you go to sleep is probably not the time to watch scary things!

@snowy22315 No it isn't! Yikes. I've gotten into watching a Turkish miniseries on Netflix called The Magnificent Century about Suleyman the Magnificent. Pretty interesting so far.

Crime shows, real or otherwise, never seem to go out of fashion - much like cooking shows.

I hate it, but I watch it anyway. I know they are not really real. Producers do everything possible to make them more appealing, including bending the truth, or following a screenplay. But, alas, It's so additive.

Well here we have reality based crime dramas like Dateline and 48 Hours that are kind of murder mystery shows based on real crimes.
