November Supermoon

Monday, November 14, our moon will be closer to the earth than it has been since 1948. The best time to see this phenomenon is just before sunrise Monday morning 6:22 AM EST. This year will mark three such supermoons with the first being last month, October 16, and next month December 14. However, this moon, Monday, will be the closest the moon will be to the earth, making it look larger than either moon from October and December.
The reason the moon will appear so large is because of its elliptical orbit, which brings the moon closer than at other times. During this time we will also have 30% more moonlight than at other times. The next time this phenomenon occurs will be in 2034. So if you miss it now, you'll have another chance in 18 years. For some of us, this will be our only chance to see such a moon.
Now the only thing that needs to happen is clear skies. From my experience with such phenomenon's lately, there had been cloudy skies making it impossible to see meteor showers, large moons, or anything else the heavens are showing us that is extraordinary.
I hope you will be able to see it. Reportedly, you should be able to see it both Sunday night and Monday night, but the best will be just before sunrise Monday morning.
I wish you all clear skies so you can see this wonderful event.
Thanks for reading.

I noticed that the moon was so close and went to BIng and read up on what you have just wrote. Interesting that it hasn't been this close to the Earth since before I was born.

@Jessicalynnt Yes it was. I tried taking a picture of it this morning when I saw it looking large and beautiful. You can barely see it on the photo against the blue sky.

I'm really looking forward to it @just4him and I hope our skies are clear too. As you say, I won't be around in 2034; that's for sure.

@just4him I looked at it at 11pm and then again at 5:15 am. They looked similar. The thing that stood out most to me was the blinding light from the moon.

@nanette64 I took pictures of them and I can easily see from the pictures that the one I took at 3:30 this morning was larger than the one at 9 last night.

I'm sorry. That is usually the way it is with me as well. Fortunately I was able to see it and get photos last night and early this morning.

I'm already seeing the early Sunday night moon. It should be closer and bigger at pre-dawn.

I got some great photos of it. The early night photo isn't as large as the one at 3:30 AM. It was better seeing it than in the photo.
