So I have a Amazon Fire tablet and love it but the books cost money. I want to take up reading as a new hobby in my free time and what not but no idea how to get free books through Amazon without having to pay the monthly fee for that. I am already and Amazon Prime member....any ideas?

Get a library card at your local library and then you can check out free e-books that way.

@carebear29 Maybe you should start. Ours provides a LOT of free resources that we wouldn't otherwise have access to. And an assortment of free classes are offered there as well.

@platespinner I managed to get another county next to me library card beside my local county one that I have had 40 years. I love the books I download from them the new library card library has so much more than my little county one. The new one is the Carnegie library of Pittsburgh which is HUGE!

Yes, same thing I have been using for years. It is called bookbub, a friend shared it with me. You sign up and can pick various genres and each day you will get an email with free and low priced e-books. I have a whole collection of e-books on my kindle and still reading e-books I got from last year, and all free!!!

@carebear29 I put up two more free ebooks email, I think it is admirable you want to take up reading as a hobby. It is one hobby you will never regret! It will take you places, put you in different time periods if you read historical fiction or you can read nonfiction and really be taken other places and times! Have fun! I am so excited you are going to love reading!

@carebear29 I have decided it is too cold to go to the library, so I am going to start reading all those free books I have as I don't have much memory left on my kindle! I am going to read my own paper book tonight for an hour when I hop into bed in a few minutes Have to check the house make sure it's safe to sleep!

I have a kindle fire and love reading on it. You will find some free books I have not looked into all books they have free on amazon. You might get a lot more free ones than me with you having prime.

Smashwords is a site that offers free ebooks and you can download them in kindle format for your tablet. Also, try subscribing to the newsletters BookBub every day they send out a email with discounted ebooks and some of them are free.

Picking up reading as a new hobby is a win in itself. Good luck! For sure, you will enjoy it. As how to get free e-books, you might want to check the internet. I know there are great ways to get e-books for free.
