Having dogs in New York City can be wonderful if....
*They aren't too large
*You don't leave them alone all day
*You live near Central Park or Riverside Park
*You let them run in a doggy park
*Your dogs clean the food from the floor that your children or grandchildren drop
*Your dogs only play with their own toys
*You clean up after them - It's the law
Having dogs in New York City can be very, very bad if...
*Your dogs get banned from doggy day care for fighting over doggy toys
*Your dogs bark and cry when you leave them alone
*You must hire dog walkers when you visit someone with a cat named Doodles
*Your dogs beat you into the elevator and sit on people's feet
*Your dogs are overly protective of their young masters
*Your dogs can only run in the doggy park if no other dogs are there
Pictured is my granddaughter walking one of her two somewhat very well behaved doggies.

If only i could get my now 15-year old son to understand the whole "cleaning up after them" part of dog ownership.... he's notoriously bad about it.... he's the one who often walks our LARGE dog because he's the only one (of the kids) who are really strong enough....

I am glad that we live in the countryside with our doggie.

Yes having a Dog can be great but its usually me that ends up walking him. I have seen the problems in the City too we had a few of those there. He is always on a leash and kept away from Cars and Houses. He is pretty good really but don´t tell him I said so.

Yes I am not sure whether its too big to put on here though. He won´t get a big head only when I tell him he´s a good boy.

Awww she has an adorable dog! :)
I like the notation "you clean up after them - it's the law" ~ I catch people littering dog poo on the grass!

Yes, if you have a dog there or any other place, you must be prepared to take proper care of them

Yup cleaning up after your dog is essential. Nothing worse than stepping in it. What a cutie pie, love your pic.

Looks like your granddaughter and his dog are both enjoying being outside walking.

I like it! Great summary of the ups and downs in owning and caring for a dog. Great pic, by the way, both kid and dog. Don't forget the emotional comfort of having a dog!

@DianneN I love all animals...sometimes more than people. At least they have emotional honesty.

It seems complicated for those in large areas.
It is nice that your granddaughter can have dogs. Most children really do seem to benefit from having a pet or two!
