There's been a disabled old station wagon sitting on the busy road that I drive on every morning. Driving home this morning I spotted a black Lab dog very very close to the road, nosing around. Cars veered around it.
I couldn't stand the thought of Chubby getting hurt. I pulled over and Chubs trotted over and into my car- him or her with a purple collar. Once I got home I called the sheriff's department.
Its legal for dogs to run at large in the county. No one will come pick the dog up. It probably lives around that station wagon. So.... trapped pooch in my car so that he or she does not get into a fight with my kids. Take him or her to the dog pound? Let him or her back out onto that road or near a driveway? Silly me just could not stand the sight of the pooch near the road. Just could not.

@Jessicalynnt I feel bad but I drove him back and left him in a long driveway near that station wagon. I hope when I drive past there tonight I do not see him on the road, hurt and all. I can't leave him in my car and I can't let him get involved with our two dogs.

The other day I had come across this situation except not on a busy road.
My discussion title says: Lost Dog - What would you do?

Many said:
Call Humane Society
Bring to the Pound/Vet (see if the dog is chipped)
Post flyers
Post on websites saying Found Dog or search if the dog may be posted
Personally for me I have no dog experience but it seems like the dog that I saw lost the other day has been reunited as there were no lost or found flyers in the neighborhood.
Pulling into the garage, we saw a white poodle dog breed roaming the neighborhood - the dog had no collar and was walking very calming on the sidewalk, not even...

@infatuatedbby I'm ten miles out in the country. I did it. I took him to a long driveway near the station wagon and let him out. I felt like a creep but I hope he is back where he belongs.

His people will look for him at the pound I would think, if they want him back.
