Thanksgiving with my daughter at her house: A First!

My daughter has lived in Portland, Oregon for about eight years now, always in tiny studio apartments too small to change your mind in. Then about six months ago, she bought a house, a small house, but with two bedrooms. So, instead of her driving down to Eugene for Thanksgiving, she will host and Anne and I will stay overnight Thursday then come back home Friday. She is picking up the Whole Foods prepared dinners (turkey breast for Anne and me, veggie for her) with great side dishes. We will take pumpkin pie and wine. It is strange, being away from home on this holiday, but she is excited about hosting. Oh, by the way, she is going to Las Vegas early Monday for a big tech event with her company and a cast of thousands, so we will be bringing her Chihuahua home with us for the week. I hope that puppy has not picked up any bad habits in the last three months since she last visited. I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving! Will be back Friday sometime.

It was fun for sure. We had a great dinner and brought home leftovers. Traffic was easy going up in a heavy rain storm, but coming back took an hour longer than it should have.

@crazyhorseladycx It was something and visibility was not great, but traffic was light into the city. The outbound lanes were jammed.

I can imagine your daughter would be quite excited and really pleased to have you both for a meal and to stay overnight. I'm looking forward to at least one post about the Chihuahua. Perhaps she will do something a bit naughty so that you will have something to write about. :)

I know how neat this is for the child. I was just recalled the other day to my daughter about the first year I hosted Thanksgiving for mom and grandmother. It was such a treat for me.. My grandmother had always had a big spread at her house and I wanted to do it for her. Luckily the turkey turned out great and all went well. I was so pleased. Hope you enjoy the week with the puppy.

'you'll see her chihuahua again' was my first thought when i read the title. we buy cooked food, too, when we have get-togethers. will you buy or bake the pumpkin pie?
