Day 80 Proverbs 13:13 Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despises the word shall be destroyed: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded. Scoffers abound in every society. They scoff at everything. They will take apart the simplest statement until people doubt what they believe. They will tear apart the most complex idea until there is nothing left of it. However, if you hold onto the truth, you will always find satisfaction in everything you do. Solomon applied that theory to God’s Word, the Law of Moses. He found that anyone who scoffed at or despised God’s Word were the ones who came up short every time, if not destroyed, but all those who respected God’s law found rewards for believing God and his Word. As Christians, you are put to the test almost daily by those who would demean your faith, scoff at it and tell you what a loser you are. However, when you hold fast to your faith, taking God at his Word, you will never be a loser, but a winner and reap the rewards of faithfulness. You will see what happens to people who demean the Word of God. Job had friends who came to be with him in his time of suffering and wanted him to repent of any wrong doing he had done so God would heal him. That might sound good, but they were mocking his faith in God. Job’s reply was simple. Job 27:6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live. (KJV) Can you say the same thing to those who come against you? Paul told Timothy to hold fast to his faith without wavering. 2 Timothy 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. (KJV) The writer of Hebrews exhorted the people to hold onto what they had without wavering and they would reap the rewards. Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (KJV) It is you who will reap the rewards of faith when you hold onto what you believe and never doubt no matter what people might persuade you to believe. It is the scoffers who come to destruction. Let’s pray: Father, help me stand fast on your Word, never doubting what you have proven to be true. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
