1956 – Guy Mitchell releases “Singing the Blues” and knocks Elvis out of the number one spot.
1958 – The Teddy Bears have a number one hit with “To Know Him Is To Love Him”.
1966 – Tom Jones tops the U.K. charts for seven weeks with his version of “The Green, Green Grass of Home”.
1972 – Carly Simon has a number one hit with “You’re So Vain”.
1973 – The Carpenters come out with their second number one hit “Top Of the World”.
1982 – Michael Jackson comes out with his milestone album “Thriller”. This LP won eight awards at the 1984 Grammy Awards and went on to become the largest selling album of all time all over the world.

Amazing that Guy Mitchell could knock off Elvis but I think Elvis did better in the long run.
