Time to start making my little Christmas trees again!

It's hard to believe it's December already! I noticed the other day that the Christmas tree stands are already up. Only then did I remember that it's time to start gathering materials to make the little trees I make each year. I'll gather the little disks from the bottoms of the trees, as well as some sprigs, grab a hammer and a nail, and get to work. Last year, I taught several of my kid clients how to do it. This year, I'll probably do the same. I'll attach a picture of a few of my little trees from last year. Or was it the year before? Time flies, whether you're having fun or not! Let me know if you want more details on how to make them. Kids love them.

@TheHorse .....Cut a hole down in the disk and then put a little glue there and stuck the sprig down in it.

Exactly! How did you attach the sprigs to the disks?

@celticeagle It's fun. I just hammer a nail in there, wiggle it and take it out. Gotta whittle down the base of the spring to twist it in. It holds pretty good.

These are so cute. I can imagine the kids would love making them - or helping make them.

These are super cute! There are tree lots here where the trees are already cut (possibly hauled in from somewhere) - not sure if I could get those disks and sprigs - but I suppose I can try!

Oh, if they chainsaw the bottom, they'll have disks. And all Christmas tree places have extra sprigs that they cut off of the trees to make them look symmetrical.

I stopped at a Christmas tree lot in Portland yesterday to get a tree preserver product they have and picked up a small sack of those rounds. Now what?

@TheHorse and then you drill a little hole in the disk and insert the sharpened end of the sprig? Right?

Some people put little cotton balls or very light ornaments on them. Others just leave them as they are. They're small, but big enough to make a room smell good!

What a cute idea. Maybe I'll show the photo to my husband and see if he want to help some of the grandsons make a couple.

The Christmas tree places are willing to to give a way the disks that they chain saw from the bottom of their trees, as well as nice, healthy sprigs, for free. Start by gathering a bunch of each. All you need is: a hammer, a nail, and a pocket knife. I'll write more later!

I'm off to grade some Scantrons from my Monday exam. If I remember, and have my mojo working, maybe I'll stop at the Christmas Tree Place and get my first disks and sprigs of the year.

I see some shops selling those christmas trees but they are so expensive it's better to make your own.
