His Birthmark Was Actually A Scar

I don't remember our visitor having birthmarks on his face, so I asked him about it. The brown spots on his right cheekbone turned out to be healed wounds from a bike accident. Now they look like balat (cafe au lait spots) and noticeable even if he is moreno (tan). Do you have birthmarks that you like or don't like? Would you have them removed? I myself have many moles (flat and raised, brown and black) and many cafe au lait spots, but not really worried about them yet.

@hereandthere Yes, I guess it's the same. I'm not sure about cosmetic removal of birthmarks as it has never affected anyone near me. I guess it can be done but I don't know how common it is.

I'm starting to notice a few very light "liver spots," and when I spoke to my dermatologist about them, she didn't seem too concerned at all. "Just part of growing old" she told me. Great! I didn't think I was that old yet! haha

moles can go cancerous I have heard, so prob not bad to have them looked out now and then. My birthmark is on a shoulder and it doesnt bother me any, so I'd leave it be

Yes, I have moles too, and scars on my feet due to carelessness when I was still so young, but I didn't mind about them.

@hereandthere With laser treatment, also the scars are removed with the laser. My brother has this laser in his cabinet, he is a doctor.

It's those behind from the neck down to the ankles that we're usually not aware of.

The sun is usually the culprit for those marks, especially as we age- best to wear a sunscreen on the face to prevent more! I am doing that now as can see they could get worse!
