Pitter Putter Pitter Putter Puter

That's not a tongue twister, or nursery rhyme though it sure seems like it. My computer is pitter puttering, but still working. I've had to do disk cleanups a lot lately, and I have to manually clean the cache with google chrome, because my CC cleaner won't do it anymore. Also, the sound will randomly just stop working. Of course that's been happening for awhile. All updates are set to do so automatically, but that hasn't stopped it from needing an update anyway. That was what fixed a network / wifi issue I had before. Had to manually update windows, and it fixed the network issue I was having. I want to say the issues I have now is more to do with the browser than anything else, but regardless I think it's time I bit the bullet and looked into getting a new laptop. This one is about four years old, and it's served me well, but it's starting to get on my nerves for all it's hang ups. Of course, all of this being said, it will probably be another year until I break down and buy another one. I'm pretty good about procrastinating when it comes to things I need. I need a new computer, so it will take me a year before I break down and get it. Then again, I think I'll be spending a bit more than I did for this one. Get me something with more memory, a bigger screen, a better graphic's card...

This is more likely to be a mechanical issue than a software one. There will be a component that has become sticky due to a build up of dust etcetera, which is most likely the fan.

@ScribbledAdNauseum This is the major problem with a laptop, it is not easily accessible inside. With a desktop you can easily clean, report or replace components.

the sound going on and off? It could be. Truthfully, I need to upgrade anyway as while I got it several years ago, it's actually a model year several years prior to that.

I try not to spend money to repair this. I'm lucky to have someone in my family that knows a lot about computers. However, you are still right, it would be more beneficial to get a newer one.

Sites like Mylot and Swagbucks are really no good for a computer. I stopped using Swagbucks all together because it froze my computer too much. Try doing a factory reset and see if that helps. What browser are you using?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yeah.. can't help you then. Chrome is a decent one.. if you were using IE I'd say that was the problem.. I hear ya on the online earnings.. I didn't want to give them up either.. but now I barely have the time for them so I basically gave most of them up anyway without really trying. I'm using Bing for searches now, although the rewards aren't great.. I didn't like the Swagbucks search anymore since they switched to Yahoo... I hate Yahoo!! Aside from that all I do is Mylot when I have the time, and Mypoints only because that's as simple as opening a few e-mails a day!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I used to do hundreds of sites when I stayed home with the kids.. now I keep it down to the few I like the best and have been on the longest.

@katsmeow1213 It's so hard to keep up with multiple sites. Since my hours have been cut (again this week).. well I have the time, and the necessity to do the sites.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My daughter told me to clean mine. But I think that the younger generation always has someone who knows how to do it. My generation doesn´t.

@marguicha It's amazing how much my niece and nephew know about computers. They were just becoming a household staple when I was a teenager.

I have money set aside, but I don't like to use it for things like this. I feel as if it's a bit "frivolous".

I've had freinds updating their devices atleast twice since I've gotten mine. This one has a bit of sentimental value to it as well though. It's the first one I bought all my own.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Same with my phone =) I paid so much for it to be crappy! I don't want to buy a new one yet but I'm getting annoyed so waiting for a good deal.

@infatuatedbby ugh, speaking of phones... I really need to go to a verizon store and get mine upgraded! I'm prepaid so it's more of a hassle, especially as I want to keep my current number.

If it's making noises is not a software problem of course, sometimes it's only too much dust, vacuuming the fan sometimes helps.

Oh, it doesn't make noises? Did I say that? If I did, I meant it doesn't have sound? Hmm...

@ScribbledAdNauseum You said is "pitter puttering", English is not my language, I thought this means making noise. Most of the problems come from the updates. I check the forums before performing the updates. Recently an update caused the wifi to disappear, a few weeks ago an updated caused problems with the sound... you should turn off automatic updated and read the forums before.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My husband always turns off the automatic updated because it is well known that Microsoft many times releases the updates before to test them so there are plenty of problems. We always want to be sure that there are no problems before installing a new update.

I hate it when my desktop starts to pitter, putter and acts up. Than I have to run different programs and fix it.

That's what I've been doing lately, running different programs to try to fix it.
