Bought a used mini-fridge...

At work last week I got into a conversation with one of my members about Christmas shopping. Somehow it came up that I wanted to buy my oldest a mini-fridge.. He has an apartment with some roommates and I thought he'd like it so he can keep drinks and snacks in his room. She said she just happened to have one she didn't use. It was her brother's and she was storing it for him, and had been storing it for awhile... her brother needed some extra cash, she wanted to get rid of it... blah blah, she'd sell it to me. She went home and plugged it in overnight, cleaned it out, etc etc... I stopped by her place after work and picked it up today. I was expecting to go to Home Depot and buy a new one for about $100... but she gave me hers for $30 instead. It's clean, it was cold when I picked it up, she'd had it plugged in recently. Naturally I have some worries about it working long term.. She told me she'll give me 30 days after Christmas to return it for any reason!! Best return policy ever, right? I hope it holds out and works well.. I know my son will like it. I saved some money, her brother got a little extra cash, and she got rid of something out of her cellar.. Everyone wins! (As long as it works probably for a good long while!!)

Yes it was. Doesn't seem it will be needed. The fridge works fine.

@infatuatedbby He was very surprised by it.. it wasn't something he ever thought about getting, but he says he's been putting it to really good use.

I will not be using it. It is a gift for my 19 year old son who has an apartment with some roommates.

@katsmeow1213 As long as they're not sleeping in the same room as it they should be OK! I think mini fridges are a great addition for anyone - mine is brought out and used at Christmas when the main fridge is full and still more space is needed. There's a wide range of capacities across different models. $30 with a sort of a guarantee thrown in for a month sounds like a very good deal.

That's a great outcome and there is no reason why it wouldn't keep working for a reasonable length of time.

That is a great deal. It should work just fine. They usually work for years without any problems.
