Hello, and welcome to myLot. You're the second member from France on this site. Have you already met the other one?
Don't be too optimistic. There won't be many members on this site who can find France on the map to say nothing about knowing anything about the political situation or politicians.

I suspect that most of the foreigners know more France for its products or its food I thinks. But I say to myself that can be certain also follow our history or our political life.
I have not crossed the other French yet ;)

It is of what I also think, but I would have wanted to have the certainty.

@lascience I used to be fascinated by French politics when I lived in Paris for a few years or so during the Mitterrand years. You will never find another president quite like him for a long time unfortunately. He had his faults of course, but he stands head and shoulders taller than any of today's breed of politicians in my opinion. None of the current candidates for the presidency fill me with hope, but the French people are resilient and you will survive.
