How many of you have received a notice to appear at jury duty? I just received a notice to appear in January. I'm going to move the jury duty, as that week is a busy week for me already. Have you scheduled service to go on a certain day? I have done this each time, so vacations and job interviews don't end up being moved.

We do not have popular jurors here.Courts in Switzerland are composed of professional and lay judges.

When I attended college wanted to be a lawyer and had law classes before switching to teaching. The law classes were really challenging learning about so many cases and figuring out why certain things happen in the court room. While attending college, I spent a lot of time just watching cases for one of my classes and after a couple of cases was convinced that people need to think before getting their drivers license. At least 50% shouldn't have been driving any vehicle of the cases I listened to during that class. I don't know if I'll be picked for a jury, as my husband has been picked every time he gets a notice. I see a lot more women then men each time I'm there and some of the people have been picked.

@Fishmomma My husband attended law classes, but he finally decided not to become a lawyer, even if he was appointed to several courts for special financial cases.

I got a notice about ten years ago. I could have gotten a doctor's note, but I wanted to see what it was like (I was 25 and stupidly curious). I showed up and got randomly picked to sit in the 12 chairs and be questioned to see if I was fit to be a juror. I'm so glad I wasn't picked because at the end of the day I was in so much pain I knew I was going to have to get that doctor's note.

What a long day of sitting in a chair. Last time I brought a book and finished it. Guess I'll be posting a book review and everyone will know where I was all day.

I never rescheduled but the last time I was there, I was around for over 8 hours! I was dismissed with a legitimate reason :)

@Fishmomma Yeah, all the times I've went - lasted longer than 8 hours! Some of my friends got off with being dismissed within the hour *lucky*!

@infatuatedbby One hour that would be great! My husband has ended up on a jury several times, so I would rather a day.

Oh that's great. Let us know how the case is going and what happens in the court room. Or maybe not.

I will be going in January 2017, so have a little time to get things done. My husband has been on several juries, so we will see, if I get picked.

@Fishmomma I read elsewhere that the list is not that large which surprised me. Still it is a heavy responsibility I would think and at the same time interesting?
