Gatlinburg Fire - Two Teens in Jail

United States
December 8, 2016 6:41am CST
Two teens are now in the Juvenile Detention Center in Sevier County in Tennessee charged with arson. They are not giving out many details only that it is possible they may be charged as adults and there may be additional charges. I am surprised that they caught these two as fast as they did. Of course we won't know all the details of that as they are keeping a tight lid on this case in order to make sure they cross the 'T's' and dot the ''I's'. Just looking down the road they could be charged with 14 counts of murder/manslaughter (whichever is appropriate) along with many other charges. I see the parents being sued and their lives will never be the same. I am providing a link that shows a map of the area and where the homes were destroyed. From what I understand it isn't complete - there are still areas/homes that are gone and don't show up on that map. Also, scroll down and there are 155 photos of the damage. It breaks your heart but it's what life is like in the Smoky's right now.

They had recently arrested a couple other fire starters and I got the impression they had some people feeding them information. So that was good. Glad they have them confined.

Someone else said that too, but it hasn't come out officially yet.

My iPad didn't want to load the link, but I have looked at a lot of photos and maps of the fire damage. This is heartbreaking for the families that lost loved ones as well as those who lost their homes and businesses.

@AbbyGreenhill fire is always frightening, when it is out of control. Many years ago, our garage burned. It was shocking how quickly it was gone.

That is very sad - and sad that the parents might be sued. Some kids are impossible to control past a certain point and it seems a bit harsh to punish the parents.

I am only guessing that people will sue, but in this day and age count on it. They are kids, not adults and the parents are responsible for them.

I wasn't paying close attention to the fire last week and thought it was natural. It's beyond appalling that all the destruction and lives lost were deliberately caused.

They said almost as soon as it happened it was started by humans. They need to pay.
