Greatest Christmas Gift

We have 2 grandsons and they live in New Jersey and we live in Florida. Growing up I always had the best holidays as my parents wanted to give us things they never had.
Since we moved to Florida two years ago my youngest grandson has been so depressed as both my parents are gone and with us moving away, the fun is gone.
When my daughter told me this a month ago I was upset and last week my husband and I decided to surprise them but showing up unexpectedly. I am lucky as I have a girl friend that has a nice home near my daughter and we will stay with her. My daughter and one grandson have a small apartment and the other grandson is away at college.
We have made the reservations and are flying up on the 22nd. We will show up at the apartment after school and shock our grandson and then we plan on taking him to where my daughter works and shock her too.
I use to work in the same store she is in so I know lots of people there. It should be fun. We are flying up on the 22nd and staying until January 7th.
When my daughter sees my grandson in the store she is going to be shocked he is there as it is two towns away from her apartment. We plan to have him tell her he got a ride from those people and then we will show up.
I love surprises and fun. Wish me luck.

@ramapo17 Thanks for sharing. Life certainly gets harder and more complicated as we age. This is my first Christmas without my dad. It's going to be hard.

@ramapo17 That's so nice of you to do that. I wish I had parents that would do that and I wish my kids had grandparents that would surprise them like that too.
Oh well, they know their parents love them more than anything. =)

@LovingMyBabies That is what counts. I was getting very depressed thinking I wouldn't be with them again this year. I feel so bad for them as the huge family we had is gone. My parents are gone and others have moved away. At least they did experience some great times through the years.

I am excited. I spoke to my daughter last week and she told me how sad he was because there are not many family members near her. I got sad because of that and I knew I could not have a happy holiday knowing my grandson wasn't happen.
I grew up with such a huge family and we all had lots of people around.
