Did you ever stop and think about all the unhappy and negative people you know? What is wrong with some people? Don't they realize it takes so much energy to hold grudges and stay angry with others? Some people that are unhappy love making others unhappy. Life is to short and we can have better lives ourselves if we stopped all the nastiness in our everyday lives. How about starting the New Year on a positive note and stop the negativity in your everyday life. Reach out to help others that might need a friend.

I think I am slowly becoming one of those people, and I blame my job for taking the life and spirit out of me. But the good news is that I recognize what is happening, and refuse to let it consume me. I am determined to have an amazing year in 2017 and turn my happiness around!

@ramapo17 You are right that one of the first steps is recognizing the situation, and I have that going for me right now. But, just as you said no one can be happy 24/7, it also applies the other way too...no one should be miserable 24/7, and that's how I feel right now with my current job situation. But I'm not going to let this defeat me. I am going to proactively take steps to improve my situation!

@moffittjc I am sorry to hear that. How long have you been at that job? What don't you like about it?

@moffittjc I cannot picture you like that. No one can be happy 24/7. There are always some things in life that can bring us down for awhile but if we always get up again, we are okay. At least you see what is happening to you so you will always be okay. Maybe have a day or so that you are not as happy as the previous day, you will always get up again. Your kids will always bring you up again. You are great with your kids and they won't let you stay depressed or down for very long.

MY son in law lives with me and he's one of the most unhappy people I've ever met. I refuse to let him steal my holiday spirit

I was not happy that I didn't loose weight for this year alone, along with so many unhappy things that happened over the past few days. BUt I will be more positive thinking next year.

Great advice. You'd wonder why some people have to be so unpleasant.

@JudyEv Some people are just so unhappy in life and they don't realize the way they are. Sometimes they need someone to confront them with their issues before they realize what they are doing.

That is some great advice. A positive attitude goes a long way. I try to avoid negative people because they drag you down.

I got rid of the negative people in my life a long time ago. Life is hard enough without courting negativity! Another way to start positive is wake up and tell yourself that it's going to be a great day. It works!

Sadly I have one of those people living with me right now. Nothing would ever make her happy-even if you handed her a million dollars and a mansion... It's sad to be that way, I can't imagine living angry or ungrateful like that...about everything!

I know. It is to much work to be unhappy all the time.

I try to be positive as much as I can, but sometimes we do have some bad days, like it or not.
