Christmas Shopping is Done

When you need to be gone for a period of time from the apartment so they can plow the parking lot it is hard to do that much shopping. It really was for me. I don't need a lot personally, and I circled Wal-Mart deciding on the final gifts for my kids. That took the most time, but after two of the mandatory hours needed to be away I was heading for the checkout stand. I still needed another hour. What to do. Seeing the gas gauge heading very close to E helped with a few more minutes and then on to one more store. With winter now visible outside my windows I thought it might be a good idea to get some winter boots. I've gone the last several years without any boots and cold wet feet was the result. Not anymore. I now have boots and a couple of warm socks to go with them as they are just a tad big - half a size, but they fit good across the foot, and they look nice, which is good because they were the only pair of boots in the store that were wide and in a size that fit. I came home a half hour before the end time, thankful to see the parking lot in front of my apartment was plowed and I didn't need to figure out what else I could do to waste time before I could come home. Though it wasn't a waste of time as I do have my Christmas shopping done now. All I need to do now is wrap it all and I should have enough wrapping paper for it. My next big purchase will be Christmas dinner. That's it. I don't need anything else before then. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

Glad you have found some boots. I wouldn't like to be going round with cold, wet feet. And two hours is a long time to fill in if you don't really have anything to do.

Yes it is. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself for the next heavy snowfall. So far the weather forecast is clear until Christmas. Though I would love to see more snow, it's what to do with myself for those necessary hours when they plow the parking lot.

@JudyEv Yes there is, but I hate paying the meter to use the library. I could always go mall browsing/walking or people watching at the mall, I suppose. Or venture into Barnes and Noble. That would be an easy two hours to kill with so many books to delight the senses.

@just4him Is there a library close by? Or interesting photos to take somewhere that you could use on posts?

Eh big on boots is ok, more room for winter socks, since that's the point of that type of shoe. I am glad you have that, and had the money to be able to get them this year!

God has been good to me this year with the inheritance and the money from the house. It feels good to be able to go shopping and not worry about money. My sister is going to pay out the last of the inheritance next month. I've been poor for so long, all my life, that it feels fantastic not to have money worries. What is amazing is the fact I have left over wrapping paper and want to go do more Christmas shopping. I don't remember when I was able to give my kids a nice Christmas.

I'm thrilled you killed time by doing all your Christmas shopping, filled the gas tank, and bought yourself much needed boots and socks. You should well set until food shopping. I hung out while my husband had therapy. We bought a few odds and ends at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, then went grocery shopping at Whole Foods. I even bought dinner there for us for tonight! Fresh, organic, gourmet heat and eat. Can't wait for dinner!

@just4him The beef ribs sound like a delicious alternative to turkey, and no thaw worries! Wear the boots around the house for a bit each day. I hope you don't get blister. A little trick I learned when I worked at a children's shoe store is to squeeze and bend the back part of the boot and shoes if they're too stiff. Hope that hint works for you. My husband was on the phone with my nephew getting help for his Roku, so dinner was held up and was a little dry, but edible. Therapy went well. Off we go again tomorrow.

@DianneN Sorry your dinner was dry. I've been hearing a lot about Roku lately. I'm glad his therapy went well.

After talking with my son on his surprise visit yesterday when I didn't have the presents wrapped yet, I've decided on beef ribs for Christmas dinner instead of turkey. It'll be different, but delicious. I don't know what else I'll be serving, but that's a good start and I don't need to worry about how long to keep the ribs in the fridge before I cook them. The boots are great. I need to break them in a bit, they are pretty stiff on the back of my foot/leg. The socks are amazingly comfortable and warm and guaranteed to keep the feet dry. They better for what I paid for them. Your dinner sounds delicious! I hope your husband's therapy went well.

My Christmas shopping was easy. Gift cards send to everyone and my two granddaughters wanted presents so I found some weird and unusual stuff for them.

Well that is a weight off your shoulders. I remember on a few occasions rushing to pick up last minute gifts on Christmas Eve.

I've tried very hard not to do that. But I was always a last minute shopper too.
