Have you ever met a person that was so mean. That you did not want to even be around that person. Why are there mean people in the world. What makes them turn out mean? You know they were not born mean or were they? I would think they were filled with love when they were born. So don't you wonder why they are mean? There has to be a reason why they are mean?

Sometimes lack of control in their lives can make them mean as they get older. Aunt Mary for example is mean because she wants to control something again since she feels like she has no control of anything.

Usually people become mean because they are deeply wounded. I have met such people and if you can catch them off guard you hear something that makes sense even if it does not excuse the mean behaviour.

That is true. But there is no reason to take it out on other people.

I truly don't know what makes someone mean. Perhaps they had something bad happen during their childhood.

Or later on in life. But you should never take how you feel out on others.

I use to have a boss that was very mean. No one wanted her around. She put the B in the b word! Several years after leaving that particular job, I found out that she got married and amazingly enough, was a nicer person. Even mean people can change.

@jstory07 This is surely true. I know a few who just don't want to change. I have also noticed that the older mean people get, sometimes they just get meaner.

Maybe they had an unhappy childhood or something. I don't know why else they would be mean.

My husband's cousin is mean for no reason. Her husband has had a heart condition for twenty years. She uses that as an excuse to ask people for things and she makes fun of everyone who helps them. Than she wonders why they will not help them anymore.

They are mean because they are not happy with their lives. They have needs that are not fulfilled.

I've never met a meaner person than my last boss... She was soo mean I pitied the man that married her... In fact, she is a saddist, bitterness seeps out of her skin... I feel it is something that made her take up that defensive/offensive position...

I can't say I ever met someone who was mean. I've dumped friends because they are negative and they complained constantly...can't stand that, I like positive people. Get rid of the mean one, you will feel better.

I always wonder about this fact myself. I guess it is due to the environment in which they grew up.

Maybe they are in pain, when we send well-wishes to the hurting people who want us to share their pain, we are able to rise above their suffering, we regain our true power. After all, it is only when mean people actually are happy and free from suffering that they will stop trying to take us down with them.
