What will you do about yahoo?

As you know, more than a billion accounts were hacked and information stolen. Does that mean that someone has all our information that was stored in our emails that we have saved? And now someone could use that information to rob us or harm us or our loved ones? How safe are we on the internet? What will you do about yahoo or any other online information that you now have stored where you thought it was safe?

I stopped using Yahoo when they had a major problem about 3 years ago. Of course Internet is not safe, if we can access our online data, any hacker can do.

The internet is progress, but I have always harbored suspicions about its safety.

Do you think that yahoo was asleep at the watch? Are you going to keep using yahoo?

I seldom use Yahoo. But I have an email account in Yahoo which I almost don't use it at all. I think in the internet there is nothing to be 100% safe. Especially after watching the movie about Snowden. If you are worried about it, at least you shall zip your important files with password. It is much more difficult to decode the zipped files with password.

@1hopefulman You can use a software called Winrar to zip and unzip your files with the password.

You are right, nothing is safe on the internet or anywhere else. I don't know anything about "zipping" except that I do that with my pants most of the time.

@fishtiger58 I think that Yahoo fell asleep on the watch. They should have been awake but they were asleep.

I still use email and now that I think of it, emails from my credit cards go there, I am worried a little, I might just have to stop those emails from going to yahoo. My good friend won't use email for any correspondence. I need to look into what to do. What do U think I should do???

I think we have put too much confidence in the internet and it might be good to be more cautious. I used to have a high limit on my credit card but have reduced to an amount that won't ruin me if it is stolen.

@db20747 Maybe you should ask the credit card security if if there is any danger?

I also have a gmail account but I find Yahoo better. Maybe because it was first and I got used to it.

I believe this has happened before. I have a Yahoo email account but I believe I have not information in there that anyone could use for anything. My two favorite emails are gmail and GMX so perhaps I will close up the Yahoo one except that I have it because some friends have it too and we can communicate better. Well thanks for the warning I'll take a look at what happens.

I think the suggestion to change our password once a month will be wise.

I don't use Yahoo and I'm glad I don't at this point. I know my son uses it, so I hope that his information is safe, but who really knows. I put very little information out there online.

I will be more careful as to what information I store there in the future or anywhere else. When I do my online banking, I change my code after every use and I do it by phone. I hope that's safe.
