String of Cards

As promised to a friend . . . I give you my string of Christmas Cards received from all over the GLOBE, across the oceans, with camel transportation, by hand but delivered to my home just in time for the festive Season. DID YOU KNOW: The first Christmas cards were commissioned by Sir Henry Cole and illustrated by John Callcott Horsley in London on 1 May 1843. The central picture whould show three generations of a family raising a toast to the card's recipient: on either side were scenes of charity, with food and clothing being given to the poor. Christmas Greeting Cards have come a long way, and I am pleased to say that this year delivered many more than the last. Can you see yours?

You seem to have a fair variety there. I like the way that you have chosen a place to hang the string so that both sides would be visible.

@Inlemay My mother used to use string too, but she would have it along one wall so that all you saw was the front of the card.

@Asylum I am fortunate to have two of these room arches (squares) that provide me with a beautiful 4 meter length to hang my cards. They are good for BUNTINGS when we have birthdays as well.

@valmnz it was good that he did, then I could give him his Christmas Cake in person and not just leave it in the postbox on the 23rd - thats when postal deliveries to the homes stop

I have just uploaded the photo - that is wonderful that you got yours earlier - sometimes they arrive after New Year due to slow postal services

@Inlemay That's true but I need a few more first. We haven't been to get the mail for a few days so I'm thinking we'll have a pile of cards to pick up.
