Odysseo Cavalia - An Amazing Show for Horse Lovers

Have you had the opportunity to see Odysseo Cavalia? My husband and I recently took one of our daughters and two of our grandchildren to see this incredible horse and acrobatic show ... an experience we will all cherish for years. The show was created by one of the founders of Cirque du Soleil, who wanted to combine Cirque du Soleil quality performers with amazing horses and their trainers. Everything is performed in front of a giant projection screen showing scenes from around the world, so the riders appear to be coming across a desert, out of a forest, from the American Southwest, or through a waterfall. The result is magical and amazing. My daughter, granddaughter and I have all ridden horses for years. My husband encouraged us and enjoyed the horses we owned when our daughters were growing up. However, even my grandson, who doesn't ride horses and doesn't seem especially interested in them, loved watching Cavalia. If you have children or grandchildren who love horses, and this traveling spectacular comes to your area, they will love this experience. I've put one photo of the show from their Twitter account above. I will add a few more as people comment, so you can get a better perspective of some of the scenes from their show. It is an incredible fantasy.

The shows with horses are beautiful. Now that you mention Le Cirque du Soleil, I want to check about one of their acrobat who has fallen from the Trampoline last week.

@LadyDuck - That would be terrible to fall from a trampoline while doing one of the Le Cirque du Soleil acts. They certainly perform some dangerous acts! I loved the show they have created! I have added more photos in the comments section.

A similar show we went to see in Perth was called something similar but I can't find the name of it now. It was very spectacular - really interesting.

@JudyEv - We talked to an usher during the break, and he told us the company also owns a similar show that tours overseas. That could be the one you saw! Very spectacular, aren't they? I have added more photos in the comments section.

@JudyEv - Yes, it is fascinating to watch the trainers control the horses with just a look or a touch!

@DeborahDiane It was amazing what they did with the horses - much of it without harness of any sort too.

It sounds incredible! I hope it comes to NYC, because my granddaughter and grandson would love it. She rides in camp and is pretty darn good with an English saddle. I loved the horse shows in Salzburg.

@DianneN - Your grandchildren would love this. Some of the stunts they do ... both on horseback and not ... are incredible. The show tours, so perhaps it will come to a location near you! Here is a view of the "Big Top" they use to perform their show! It is unbelievable what they accomplish in this tent. I have added other photos in the comments section, too, so you can see more views of the show. There is a website for the show, so you can check to see if it could be coming to the East Coast.

@DianneN - I was told that sometimes they set up in stadiums because they go to places where there are no open spaces. I agree it would be difficult to find a place in Manhattan ... but maybe New Jersey, instead!

I'm sorry I missed this when you posted it. It sounds like a wonderful show - I saw something similar in London a few years ago.

@DeborahDiane I don't think it was the same - the horses were mostly those big black Freesian horses, and the show was called 'The Festival of the Horse'. It was probably 15 years ago.

@jaboUK - The one you saw in London may have been operated by the same company. They have an international troupe that goes around the world, as well as the one that tours North America.

I think they said they would be in Vancouver next. They do travel around the U.S. and Canada, so no telling where they will pop up!
