You might think my heading quite odd however these are the lyrics from a Novelty Christmas song that I first heard five years ago while traveling in Ireland. Apparently "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" is a novelty Christmas song. Written by Randy Brooks, the song was originally performed by the husband-and-wife duo of Elmo and Patsy Trigg Shropshire in 1979. Now I know where Shropshire is - Shropshire is a county located between West Midlands in England and Wales. Wonderful to learn new things every time one ventures onto google when spurred on by some music. have you heard the song? Its quite hilarious and now that I have grandchildren, my daughters have said they are going to teach them the novel Christmas song. ha ha ha - Imagine this Grandma getting run over by a Reindeer? My photo is a flash back memory of a day in Ireland - icy roads, lots of snow and a wonderful time with my girls . . .

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer was a staple on the Dr. Demento novelty song radio show.

@Inlemay I'm sure they'll love it - except that you'll be the Grandma. How will they like that? :)

I hadn't really heard of it until last year, when my mother-in-law wanted to do a picture around that. She has five grandkids (my three and then my husband's sister's two). So we have all five with some soft reindeer antlers for the five of them and then all of them sitting on my mother in law, who is laying on the floor. It's something she wanted to do and it's a good picture. PS the antlers we used are not real ones. They're the soft, stuffed, and made for kids kind that you may find at a dollar store. The ones kids can play with. I just want to mention this so that you guys all understand that we weren't using real ones. Lol.

If you can put this on in the background, you'll hear the track in your title at #13:
Songs of Christmas is the twenty-sixth album by Irish folk music group The Irish Rovers. The group is best known for their hit recording of Shel Silverstein'...
