What event made you go say damn I'm an idiot?

When i got invited to some fancy dinner by the company/client and when its time to order, i usually look at the menu and choose what i want for entree. Most likely than not, it would be in some non english names. As for myself i suck at pronouncing any non english words and likely it would just sound weird. However instead of looking like an "idiot" i would try my best to go at it. Then my waiter would confirm with me what i ordered in a totally different pronunciation. Mind you that the table would be fully seated and the exchange between the waiter and i would at least caught several near by peoples attention. In a way, i think just pointing at the item in the menu will make me less stupid. So what incident made you guys feel like an idiot?
