Yes, home again. I think taking trips just before Christmas is not a great plan! Now I have two days to do my shopping! But fortunately just for the family who will be at our Annual Christmas Eve Party! I enjoyed the party each year growing up but moved completely out of the area 46 years ago and this is the first one I will be attending in all that time. There will be just a dozen or so people there, our family has now spread out far and wide (I always was among those) but it will be fun to be at a party on Christmas Eve once again. Then together for Christmas dinner the next day. What are your plans?

Santa and reindeer singing and dancing.
People usually sing and dance about Santa coming to town, so maybe Santa and his reindeer will sing and dance about your return home.

Your days sound similar to what we always did. We only did Christmas Eve though with the extended family in my childhood. Christmas day was for our own family and the grandparents. Later at dinner we had a few invited friends also.

Sometimes it's better to just bow out of the situation. Your plans sound nice, spending time with your family!

I usually end up doing some kind of press trip in December and always hate myself for it. This year it wasn't really a press trip but a visit to Vermont but it does disrupt the flow of the season and I am out of step after that. We will gather with my daughter and her family on Christmas Eve and then I have the whole crew over on Christmas Day. Today I have some writing to do and I do need to do the food shopping still.

@Jeanniemaries I got my groceries today too and we did a lot of cleaning so once I finish getting the presents together I will be pretty much done.

I really know what you mean, just having come back from an extended trip. I don't have time to get back into the swing of things. I did my shopping today but still feel a bit out of step.

It sounds as if you will have some fun. On Christmas Day I will have my son and daughter-in-law, plus two friends. My daughter and her husband live in Thailand, but we will skype. Happy Christmas Jean.

Thanks! It's been pretty merry so far! I'm very happily sitting in the dark living room, stockings filled, tree lights glowing, laptop light glowing....and holiday music on. Very tired after a busy, but fun day.

My family has a Christmas get together every year. In years gone by, the wider family would all get together at my grandmother's house. Now it's just me, my sisters, our kids, and our parents.

Sounds like a great time to start new traditions. Something fun and special. It's too bad your son is being difficult. I'm sorry to hear that.

I did my shopping and I'm happy with what I found. I only went to two stores and just picked out something from their selection. The store wasn't crowded either. It went pretty smooth.
