Going the Restaurant One Better

Two weeks ago my missus and I had dinner at the Texas Statehouse near the airport. It was the annual Christmas Party for our camping club. It was also the meeting at which we became official members of the club. For dinner I had a chicken dish. I don't remember what it was called. The dish consisted of a chicken breast with barbeque sauce, wrapped in bacon, and covered with cheese. I enjoyed it very much. Tonight, my missus tried to recreate this dish. She went beyond success. Her version was much better than the one I had at Texas Steakhouse. The best part is that our two boys got to enjoy it also. Have you ever tried to make something you enjoyed in a restaurant? How did it work out?

I want to try to make a salad dressing from Carraba's. Their house dressing is amazing! I have made Olive Gardens fettucine alfredo and it is so good! =) I make something similar to what you had, without the barbecue sauce. I make chicken with cream cheese & shredded cheese on top wrapped with bacon around it. It's my favorite meal to have!

Your dish sounds similar to what my mother calls her chicken supreme. Instead of cream cheese, she uses sour cream. I actually feature her recipe as a meal my character's mother cooks in my latest book.

my cooking skills are way below standard to try recreating restaurant quality meals sadly

I'd never try it myself, but my wife seems to have a knack for it.

I am a big Texas Roadhouse fan as well but I love the shrimp skewers. I rarely try to duplicate restaurant food.

I love the Texas Roadhouse, they have an incredible menu. I will recreate dishes that we've enjoyed out at different places before too, yours sounds delicious.

I haven't, but my girlfriend is a chef. She does it all the time.

When my son was little he didn't have much of an appetite. One day I took him to a fair and he tasted a spaghetti dish and loved it. So I recreated it when we got home and it turned out just fine. I was so happy that I had discovered another dish that he would eat.

I think that it is fun to try and duplicate a meal that I have had somewhere.
