I opened my sister's gift to me this morning and could not believe my eyes. Spring Song is a picture that hung in my grandma's house for as long as I can remember and I've always loved it. As you can see, it is a beautiful work of art. I grew up, my grandparents died, and I never saw the picture again but found it on the internet last year. I made it my desktop picture so that I could enjoy it.
My sister recently visited me--she lives about 1,000 miles away--and saw it, we talked about it for awhile and I didn't think of it again until this morning when I unwrapped the tube she sent me.
Rarely has anyone given me such a special gift! She saw something I really longed for, tracked it down, and gave it to me. The thought and love that went into this gift means so much more than the gift itself. Every time I look at it I will feel loved.
Did you get a special gift this year? Have you ever received a gift that made you feel especially loved?

That's is really special and thoughtful. No, no gifts yet. Only myLot $5.00 mark, I reached this today. I guess this is the best MyLot Christmas gift to me. But Christmas day is not yet complete so there is a chance.

I have had plenty of Christmas days without gifts, that's part of what makes this so special.
Good for reaching your $5 mark! You should be extra good to yourself for achieving that. Take a relaxing bath, treat your feet to lotion and care, give your hair special treatment, and just generally treat yourself like a princess.

@dragon54u Thank you. Really really nice suggestions. I have already earmarked a book and a movie for later this evening. See? You were already most helpful...and I feel lots better! Thank you.I rearranged my thinking processes.

We had that picture in our home growing up as well. Thanks for sharing the title. Hubby gives me experiences, unexpectedly and they make me feel very special. Such as the fact that my kids, who are good kids, are not sentimental and do not often recognize Mother's Day, so he secretly made reservations for a historic place I saw online, and took me there for Mother's Day. They are not his kids and he cannot really say to them that they make me sad, but he can give me something wonderful to enjoy and think about.

It's a similar print. No one knows what happened to the old one, which I was told was a print. But I remember running my fingers over the picture and feeling paint strokes. It was either a painted copy or it was an original, which I very much doubt. I am so happy to now be able to have my own copy.

I'm happy you got such a lovely gift. My grandparents had "spring song" too, I didn't know the name, had always called it the "robin print". I have it - but it makes me sad to look at it.

It was very popular in the 30s and 40s, from what I read. I always thought it was called "The Bluebird" for some reason so I just put the description of it in the search engine and voila! I found it! I have some sadness when I look at it, too, because I miss my wonderful grandparents. But then I remember all the happy times in their house!

@dragon54u It's nice to know that other people are sentimental, too :-)

It does make me happy! Besides being a lovely picture it reminds me of my grandparents who had a print in their house. So many beautiful memories come back to me when I look at it!

What a precious gift! And how loving of her to part with it. I love gifts that have obviously taken much thought and/or sacrifice, there is so much love there.
