i spent a..lovely..4 hours in the ER with mom last night.no sooner had i sat down to have a beer with the hubby at one am,when i heard a crash from the first floor shake the house. oh crap, now what? she decided to get up and putter around like we've asked her not to,tripped with a cup,and cut the poop out of herself.her eye was full of blood. the bleeding wouldn't stop,so i called 911. turns out she had a few cuts that needed stitches, and cornial abrasion.she's lucky she broke nothing.today she looks like she lost a prize fight. it goes without saying she's also been told not to use cups that aren't plastic, but since she already wasn't listening, what's one more? she'll be ok,but maybe this time she'll listen to us.it almost cost her an eye. the neighbor's girl cat tried to come with and jumped in the ambulance..i had to have my bro put her back on the porch.as much as the nurses might have loved it,go home kitty.no hospital for you.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, I hope she will be okay. We spent 4 hours at the ER last night with our 10 month old, he has an upper respiratory infection. =( I hope they both feel better soon.

@scarlet_woman It's odd how the roles get reversed as we get older, isn't it? That's exactly what my mom would have told me as a kid after doing something I was warned about that resulted in an injury.

It took me a while to learn that you can't tell an elderly person what to do, they'll simply do it just to prove they can. Mom wouldn't listen, Carol's dad wouldn't listen and Linda mom and dad don't listen. It's like telling a 3 year old no no only to see them try and try again.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's accident. I hope she heals quickly and finally learned her lesson. The older one gets, the less advice they heed.

at least she was able to be taken to the hospital. Though it was bad christmas day but the important is that she's recovering.
