Last night, I couldn't sleep at all, so I was up until about 4am. Finally got into bed and drifted off. Next thing I knew, I heard screaming and banging. I assumed the sounds were coming from outside, since my bedroom is on the front side of the building where cars drive in and drop people off/pick people up, and people sometimes gather. But as the sleep pushed away, I realized the sounds were much closer, and I saw my cat racing around in anxiety. When I got up, I heard the screaming and banging right outside my apartment door, in the hallway. On my wing of this floor, there are about 8 apartments, so the woman I heard yelling could have been from one of 3 apartments where young women live. I didn't open my door nor did I look out my peephole. I really didn't want to get that close. I thought about calling the police, but I heard a voice out there that sounded somewhat official and not long after I heard a door slam and everything has been quiet since. I hope everyone is okay. I haven't witnessed anything like that since I've been living here, but I'm not surprised in a building of this size. Things happen. I'm always careful to smile at everyone and wish them a great day. You hear so many stories on the news that you just never know who might have a gun and be very willing to use it, even over a cross look. I have to say that I really am enjoying the quiet! -Claudia-

I just assumed that you lived in senior housing, I think I would prefer that to the young drama!! Our Florida house is in a 55 plus community and I love it.

No, I live in a low income apartment building, so we have people of all ages and ethnicities. Most everyone is wonderful, but every so often someone doesn't get along with someone else. Down the hall from me are two sisters and it really sounded like it could have been them fighting, but I'm not sure. This is the first time I've heard any trouble since I've been here. Most of the time it's very quiet, especially up here. Another reason I love living on the top floor!

Best thing to do in that scenario is to stay inside and call the cops, but it seems like someone else did.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the police were already here when I woke up. I should have looked outside my bedroom windows to check but I wasn't awake enough at the time! lol

Yes, I know it can be dangerous at any given moment which is why I mostly keep to myself here. I'm glad the fight didn't last longer than it did.
