Do You Follow?
January 4, 2017 5:48pm CST
It's happened to me a few time recently. Members following me without ever visiting my posts. I don't really care as I don't tend to use my followers list anymore. It still baffles me as to why they blindly follow without any interaction. I tend to find my regular followers on numerous posts I read. I also like to go through recent discussions and new user discussions. This way I get to meet new people. There is the odd occasion I'll go through my followers list and have a purge. I used to want to be notified when followers submit a new post but I can see that notifications would be flooded. Do you stick to your list of followers?

I have a list of people I follow, but I try to keep that to a manageable number. Currently it is 94, of which probably half are inactive members. I don't delete inactive users, since quite frequently they stop in for a visit and I am notified that they have once again submitted a discussion. However I do not limit my interaction to my followers...and I generally don't follow people who start more than 3 or 4 discussions in the course of day since that tends to gum up my "their discussions" tab.

I don't seem to get notifications that someone has submitted a new post. It's good you don't limit interaction to your followers as there is always good material to be found on here. I don't follow people who submit several discussions a day either.

I don't really subscribe the follower's thing at all. If people follow me? Wonderful. I don't follow people anymore, though I am sure that I still have a few "followed" from when I did start to do so. I just go via the "most recent." I'm not on here very often at any rate, or atleast I wasn't.

they just add us in the hope that we follow them and comment-like their stuff - they have no interest in actually reading anything - they don't realize that without interacting back they will be forgotten quickly and ignored

In fact sometimes I don't understand why some Mylotters follow me. Since we will not have more interactions. If I follow someone here, be sure this Mylotters seem to be very active or friendly. I always check my friends' new discussions at first. I like to have nice friends here.

I ... I really don't know. I'm kind of a 'writer for fun,' and so don't feel like this is "our job." I guess I feel like we're all just 'writers for fun' here; if anyone reads it or not, cool I guess people start 'following you without reading your posts' for the same reason they 'friend' you on Facebook (when they're just joining it, anyway)---because of 'what you say on your profile' or in your characteristics-lists (gender, location, occupation, etc.)

I am often short of time. I come here randomly. If I open a post, I check the responses of a few, may be interact and leave. A few friends, I pester till they give up and put up with me. I usually arrive when I am very drowsy ..so I may not be doing a good job of you scratch my back and I will scratch yours kind...:) But I do interact somewhere or the other. :)
