Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell who is currently the head coach of the Detroit Lions will return in 2017. The Lions ended the 2016 regular football season with three straight losses to finish with a record of nine wins and seven losses which placed in second place in the National Football Conference North Division one game behind the Green Bay Packers. Lions general manager Bob Quinn decided to give Caldwell one more year to coach the Lions since under Caldwell's leadership the Lions have made two wild card appearances in the three years he has coached the team. The Lions will take on the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football Conference Wild Card Game on Saturday January 7, 2016 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle Washington. It is not clear if Quinn had any intentions of firing Caldwell if the Lions failed to make the playoffs this football season but I am sure that Caldwell has to show Quinn the Lions are capable to get past the Wild Card round of the playoffs if he to return to coach the team in 2018.
