Buying an acoustic guitar

Decided to reward myself. Actually, I learned my 14 year old sister is interested in learning to play guitar - so I am going to set up some sessions between me and her since I have played for something around 14 years. For some reason Ive never really owned an acoustic guitar of my own, in thepast have borrowed them from my dad or my roommates. I own several electrics but when it comes to acoustic - nothing! So my goal is to buy myself and my little sister an acoustic guitar each so we can start learning. I am excited, once I teach her the regular old chords I think we can both learn together some new chords, suspended and barred chords that I have forgotten over the years! So I have been perusing Craigslist and Facebook groups to try to find a reasonably priced acoustic guitar for me. I have never been a big spender, the most I have spent on a guitar was $400 for my Fender Strat. Do you have an acoustic guitar - if so - wiuld you sugges it? What brand and model if you know it? Or do you have any suggestions for brands that sound good and are relatively inexpensive?

I have a Giannini acoustic guitar, and a very old Harmony Rocket electric guitar, I used to have a Les Paul as well but sold that. I haven't played in years, but can't give up my two guitars. I will leave them to my kids. The Harmony Rocket was given to me by my dad, and it was used back then, I was 13 when he got me that guitar and I have now had it for 45 years. The Giannini has a beautiful sound.

Back in the day I had an acoustic guitar but I have since sold it. I'm sure you'll find reasonably priced models out there. Good lick in this endeavor. I think it is nice of you to purchase a guitar for your sister.

No idea sorry. But I did see a few guitars that have been used by famous people in an Auction but they did not say the name of the Guitars or anything. Also listening to Guitar music yesterday a Guitar player who has really music in those fingers of hisl He was playing the Spanish Guitar and it was wonderful. That is nice for you to get together and play in a duo. She can learn a lot from that too.

I never owned a guitar. But I did have drums and a keyboard years ago. The drums are gone now and I still have my keyboard. I play around with it from time to time. You seem to be good at playing. Good luck with learning with your sister. I am sure you will both have a great time.

I've got a classical nylon string acoustic, a $200 ibanez acoustic and a 12 string ibaniz acoustic. I learned on the nylon acoustic, best thing I could've Done! No fret markings, nylon strings and the wide, thicker neck really exercised my fret hand. Every guitar after that seemed small and easy to play. The $200 acoustic I bought at guitar center, it's a steal once you get it setup. Since my brother used to work at Taylor guitars, he did the set up and people think I paid close to a gran on it.
