Back in my stride.

And so begins another Saturday like so many Saturdays that are already spent - Earl Grey tea and an apricot croissant with my daughter. She'll have a glass of milk and a chocolate muffin. I like it when cafés get back to normal after the frivolity of the Christmas season which seems to last forever. I don't need my barista to wear antlers while serving me, in fact I wish he wouldn't. Café owners don't seem to realise that they make less money out of me when they deviate from ordinary service.

@maluse Oh yes, antlers. False ones of course - they don't grow them especially for the season. I find it totally unnecessary and really quite puerile.

@xFiacre I agree. I haven't seen anything like that here which doesn't mean that here people don't behave puerile as well.

@MALUSE I'm surprised some employees aren't required to wear them in Germany. Our supermarket people and others all had Christmas hats or antlers for a few weeks before Christmas.

Apricot croissants sound nice. I'm not fussed about muffins. Here, they are massive but it's just an excuse to charge horrendous prices.

@judyev and more often than not people don't finish them.

@xFiacre That's true. They look great and are very tempting but age has brought a sort of wisdom concerning some things.

That sounds lovely! Not the antlers, but sharing a morning at a cafe with your daughter. I'm over Christmas too. I would like to return to normalcy.

And just you try being the one wearing the antlers...
