i often hear people give off long lists of the first things they'd buy if they ever won huge money.cars,trips,etc. i never was really the type for crazy expendatures.. but as i got older,my list has been revised quite a bit. after the usual (paying off everything) i would: get a hot tub buy a new comfy bed where everything doesn't hurt in the morning electric blanket expand my house slightly to add a game room and have everything delivered. snow? who cares.me and my cats are taking a nap.

My list has also changed since I've aged. After the obvious paying off everything for myself and my family I would invest a million each for each family member so they could have an income without touching the principle and be secure for life. With the remainder I would start foundations that would be self-funding and use their income to nurture and educate children. One of those foundation would be group homes, like orphanages, for children that no one wants; they would be loved, cared for, educated in a nurturing environment. Whether their stay was a week or years they would know there was always somewhere where someone loved them. I would hope that these homes would make some difference.

I really do think that we need more homes for the children, especially where they are safe and protected. Some are fortunate and end up in good homes, but many are not that lucky. If they had a more loving and stable environment, even if they were not adopted by an actual family, then the place they lived would still be "home" and the other children and caregivers would be their family.

I would give some money to my dad to pay him back for everything he's done for me over the years, then give some to my sister and her family...maybe pay for the girls' college, not that they can't pay for it, I just think it would be nice. I'd make sure I had a home completely paid for, preferably in a warm place where it doesn't snow. I'd probably still work so I could avoid spending all the money, but I would only do work that I enjoyed.

I am not "older", so I would put in a bunch of safeguards to ensure that my children (especially my oldest) did not try to "knock me off" for their inheritance.

As long as you know what you want and need. No point in winning the money if you are not going to have a little fun with it. I personally would just buy a tiny house make it self sufficient out in the middle of no where, have everything else delivered to me like you.

Honestly, we all say what we would do if we won a big lottery. The truth is that we really don't know how we are going to act if it ever happened. We will be so riddled with excitement, that we would forget about what we would do. Maybe after some time we could calm down and think about it. Once the excitement wears off, well, we will do what we will do, no matter what it is.
