#9 in my Favorite Male Cyclists series is an American cycling legend, Owosso, Michigan's John Tomac.
John Tomac raced professionally from 1985 to 2005, is the manager of Tomac Racing (a mountain bike racing program,) and is very active in Tomac Bicycles, a company he founded. Tomac raced both on road and off, and is in the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.
Tomac could do it all. In Europe, he rode in classic road races such as the Tour of Flanders, Paris - Roubaix, and even the Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy.) It was on a mountain bike that John Tomac excelled, however. Tomac was an expert at both cross country and downhill disciplines. Check this out:
Tomac was the Cross Country World Champion in 1991, and was a two time Silver medalist in the World Downhill Championships. He was the NORBA (American) All Around Champion three times, NORBA National Downhill Champ in 1994, and NORBA National Cross Country Champion in 1996. And that's not including all of his Silver medals at World Cup events.
Oh, and he's won the insane Mammoth Kamikaze Downhill twice. The guy is pretty good on a bike!

I'm going to say that it'll be that way up to #1. You probably know the name but don't realize it.

I am obsessed with cycling. Hockey and music, too, but definitely cycling.

Oh yes. They even have a women's Tour de France. I'm doing my favorite women's cyclists after I finish the men.
