1956 – Just for you @JohnRoberts Elvis recorded his first song for RCA Records which was written especially for him “Heartbreak Hotel”. 1959 – The only number one hit single that Jerry Lee Lewis had in the U.K was “Great Balls Of Fire”. 1976 – With the fascination of CB radios in North America the truck driving song “Convoy” by C.W. McCall reached the top of the Billboard Pop chart. 1981 – Just a bit over a month after his assassination “Double Fantasy” the album recorded by John Lennon and Yoko Ono goes Platinum and rose up to number one on the U.S. chart and stayed there for eight weeks. http://www.classicbands.com/day/january%2010.html

Ah, Elvis! Heartbreak Hotel belongs to my student days in the famous German university town of Heidelberg.

@RasmaSandra I know about it but I've never seen and I don't know anybody who has. Isn't it exorbitantly kitschy?

@MALUSE well it depends on how you look at it. I love it for the music and the romance. Sure at times things get sappy but hey it is worth a look at least once. I see online that you might be able to find the full movie on YouTube or on Dailymotion.

I was too young to know that Elvis song first time around, of course I have heard it many times since then.
