You Could Definitely Tell

Yesterday was the first Monday the kids have been back at school after break. You could definitely tell with their behaviors and attitudes. Yet you also could tell they were glad to get back to structure. At least some of them. The school nurse predicted that for some of our kiddos it was going to be a long day, and a long week. It will be for staff as well. I got a good night's sleep last night, and I am ready to head out to do it all again.

@katsmeow1213 Because of the transportation situation I had to cancel my eye doctor appointment twice. This time I have no excuse, I will go.

I'm looking forward to seeing my students tomorrow, but I know they are going to be off the chain. We had a four day week last week, will have a three day week this week, and then two four day weeks in a row due to the MLK holiday and a teacher workday. We won't have a full five-day week until the end of January. What a school year this has been.

Wow, it must be hard to get the academics all done. We had two weeks before the holidays where all the schedules were pre empted by special activities. Not a good deal with kids who require routine and structure, like the ones on our caseload.

@GardenGerty Middle school students as a group need structure and predictability. Any change in the schedule gets them out of kilter. I can't imagine what it's going to be like tomorrow, but I'll be glad to get back.

It always seems a longer day after a period of absence.

It seems they forget all the things they know about being civilized when they have some days off.

Gone back to School here too they had been off since the 21st of December so they were getting bored specially being where we live. When they come back from School they charge out of the Door to play with a ball and that is it a ball and a scooter.

With the disabilities of the students I work with, they never seem to all be settled down at the same time.

@GardenGerty Actually I can believe that and should have thought of it. It must keep things interesting.
