$1 for a WORD

Today I read something really interesting that is worth sharing among my myLot friends. Did you ever know that Titanic survivors were charged $1 per word to send telegrams from their lifeboat. One man used his last dollar to send the word ‘Safe’ to his mother. In 1912 $1 must have been equal to $100 today This remembers me of something, do you think that we are always squeezed in situations where the corporates or the business people, when they think that we have no other options. I have read a few years ago, am not sure how legit it is, that the medicines sold for cancer treatments are way less than the price we pay, in some cases the amount we pay is around 1000 times its production cost. Is it the modern way of the titanic telegram story.?

There would always be people who would take advantage whenever there is a great demand, that is human nature not unless there would be a law to regulate their greed.

@suhail1 like I said that is human nature, it is in all of us some people just do not know how to tame or tone it down.

@suhail1 perhaps in this time of globalization we are heading towards a very materialistic kind of world where everything will be measured in terms of money

It's all about making money out there in the business world ... Pharmaceutical companies don't want us to get better... they want us to get sick so they can sell us more of their products...

Private messages were not allowed as the Titanic sank, it was all messages trying to get the info to other ships.

The people with power always try to take advantage of those who are vulnerable and have no other way of surviving.
