Diary – Friday 13th January 2017 The superstitions associated with Friday 13th do not worry me one jot. I’m almost tempted to walk under ladders, step in the path of black cats and carry an ace of spades round yelling come on then gods, do your worst. I wanted to go out or this would have been another entirely housebound day and the skies were clear though it looked cold out. Learning of a new giant charity shop in the city, I wanted to visit that but it is only reachable on the bus services my weekly tickets don’t cover so it can wait for a future occasion. I settled for a little shopping in the end and catching up on TV shows from Xmas once back home. Diary – Saturday 14th January 2017 Another quiet day so I headed to the library for a few hours, and sorted out some material for tomorrow’s creative writing workshop. I also contacted a restaurant in Manchester to book a table for my birthday buffet meal in February. I have booked for up to 25 guests with 19 already confirmed. Arthur Chappell

Master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock and Fidel Castro were born on Friday the 13th. And btw, we have a name for this fear - triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13.

Ironic date of birth for a fear-inducing film director like Hitchcock - I was born on a Friday, but the 9th @lyanhnan

Since I was born on a Friday and 13 is one of my lucky numbers yesterday counted as a particularly lucky day for me. Sounds like your going to have a great birthday. What February is your b-day?

A giant charity shop? That sounds heavenly! I didn't even realise that it was Friday the 13th until about lunchtime. Nothing untoward happened. It never does.

I too like to walk under ladders. I did not feel unlucky yesterday either. Hope the creative writing workshop goes well.

I grew up with some inherited superstitious beliefs and I have been consciously removing them off my system. Creative writing workshop? Sounds interesting. Good luck.
